Teambuilding Staff Trip Wales Sept 2020

Tai kindly organised a trip to Wales for staff to develop and experience first hand the anxieties children and young people  feel when faced with residential trips away from home.We can't wait to take them as soon as restrictions are lifted.

Trip to 'Dad's Army' Martello Tower August 2020

We did a bike ride to Jaywick Martello Tower where there was a Dad's Army event. Some senior folk were dressed in authentic historic uniforms and with decommissioned guns and other equipment for children to take a close look at. 

We were also allowed to the top of the tower to take in the beautiful view of the Jaywick Coast.

Splash Park August 2020

We organised a well needed trip to Splash Park for our younger children to let off steam and have a real belly laugh after months of restrictions. 

Curve wake trip August 2020

Our big summer bike ride was to Curve Wake waterpark  in St Osyth. Many conquered fears of fresh water and jumping from high. Particularly proud of Harry who after 30 minutes deliberating finally took the plunge and had a fantastic time. 

Yoga July 2020

This year we introduced yoga for the first time. Due to restrictions we did outdoor sessions at the multi-court in Clacton and the Community Garden it was lovely to bring a calming session to the centre of Percy King Estate. 

Coronavirus 1-2-1's April-July 2020

Due to the impact of lockdown, we have had to take a creative approach to meeting the children and young peoples need, we therfore embarked on a program of 1-2-1 cycle rides, walk and talks, DIY skills and starting work on our important new garden project.

BIke Kitchen's & Cycling March 2020

Our Bike Kitchens continue to be a lifeline for our children & YP. Our Trishaw project has proved a huge success and many elderly residents from Corner Lodge have enjoyed trips out to the pier with our young volunteers. New this year, 7 of our children took part in our first Bikeability course.

Girls Day February 2020

Some of our young ladies spent a lovely afternoon at the Base - nails (two ways!!), fruit and pancakes a week early, a bit of music and most importantly great company! A special thank you to Demah (our beautician for the day) and Tendring Hygiene Scheme for very kindly donating a goody for each of the girls

Firebreak Programme January 2020

We were thrilled to run the Firebreak programme funded generously by the Community Safety Partership  and Essex Fire Service.  10 of our YP faced many challenges and overcome phobias and friends and family proudly celebrated their success on 24th January.

Community Giving Christmas Tree Project December 2019

Local Police organised a gift tree. The Clacton community generously donated to ensure local children were nominated to receive quality Christmas gifts. IV staff helped to wrap them all and Ruby and Con delivered them to many happy children and young people.

Half term activities October 2019

12 hardy children cycled over to Jaywick to enjoy a lovely home-cooked brunch. This year we went to Holland on Sea to pick our own pumpkins, before all heding back to Our Jaywick base to carve them.

Puzzle room November 2019

This experience was not only creative, but funny, witty, and it really brought our YP together. The thrill of the race against the other team was intense. We were running around the top of Colchester Castle, searching high and low all while laughing together, building and strengthing friendships, as well as the exercising our minds to escape the serpents curse. So much fun from beginning to end

Curve Wake Park August 2019

We enjoyed it so much that we cycled 5 miles to Curve Wake Park in St Osyth again this year. At least half of our intrepid adventurers overcame their initial fear of the water! Non-stop laughter navigating the inflatables in this beautiful outdoor setting.

Colchester Zoo August 2019

Our Colchester zoo trip was a first for IV. 26 children came along. Favourite moments were meeting the birds of prey, feeding the giraffes and elephants and getting close to the goats in the petting enclosure.

Trishaw Arrival September 2019

We finally took delivery of our Trishaw and staff had fun trying it out. Con and so far two young people have taken out the first residents from Corner Lodge specialist dementia care home for a breath of fresh air.

Outdoor cinema September 2019

We celebrated the end of our fun packed summer holidays with an outdoor cinema event in partnership with Jaywick Martello Tower and Moving Image. It was a gorgeous night 80 children and their families came wrapped up in duvets and blankets to watch ‘Fighting with my Family’.

Sailing Trip August 2019

In August a small group went sailing for the weekend. Thank you Seachange for enabling us to go by raising a substantial bursary. It was a great adventure in which positive new friendships were made.

Wheeley Woods July 2019

We had a great fun learning outdoor skills at the woods firelighting, learning rope knots and coordination skills on the obstacle course.

Creative Arts June 2019

Thank you to Rosie, Manager of the Martello Tower, for giving us the opportunity to work with two talented artists, who taught the children Pottery and Silicone Moulding

Memorial Garden May 2019

We are very grateful to the children that kindly volunteered to help refresh and tidy the memorial garden in Jaywick

Petra's Memorial Service April 2019

We held a simple memorial to Petra on the beach. We cycled there together and threw flowers that one of our young people kindly donated into the sea. Thank you Katie ️

Dementia Awareness Day January 2019

Anthony our Chef once again collaborated with the local fire station to reach out to couples coping with dementia. Seniors that had not been permitted to prepare meals for their partners since the onslaught of their disease cooked in the safety of the fire station with our Chef and sat and ate together.

Multi-Court Sports Session February 2019

15th Feb we were unable to use the Hall at Coppins so we organised a warming  evening on the chilly multi-court with hot chocolate, marshmallows and toast over a firepit, on the sidelines of the football.

So proud of local lad Billy who organised a beautiful festive Santa grotto from his Nan's home in Brooklands. All proceeds went to hospital that has supported his little brother Sonny. 
We had a traditional Xmas meal this year bringing two generations together, our children and seniors from our Jaywick community Cafe 

Rollerworld & Quasar March 2019

Thanks to Rosie winning Jack Petchey Jaywick young people were treated to a trip to Rollerworld Colchester. Thank you and well done Rosie!

Police Football Tournament November 2018

Clacton police came to Percy King estate to play in a tournament with staff and young people. A great night, 60 children and family members came down to support. Overall the police came out on top, we are hoping to rectify this in the Spring! 

Trip to Birch Hall, Thorpe October 2018

We had a beautiful trip to Birch Hall at Thorpe on a gorgeous Autumn day in Half-term. Young People experienced sailing and were lucky to spot several seals. They also tried the climbing wall.

Alzheimer's Cooking Event September 2018

So today our chef Ant and one of our young people Hayden joined forces with the fire station , ACE and the Alzheimer's society to let 12 individuals with Alzheimer's cook a meal for their partners! Here are the lovely pictures of the day! There was happiness, smiles and laughter all round. This is an organisation that helps so many people every year! 

Beach Day August 2018

The annual beach day. We were glad of the beach hut, and were grateful to Chef and and his trusty assistant for making lunch.

This year It was tinged with sadness due to the tragic loss of Ben at the beginning of August 

Water Park July 2018

We decided to kick off the summer holiday by adding a bonus to our bike ride and visited the waterpark at St Oysth, great fun 

Poshed Up Junk Food May 2018

We held a cafe event for the kids that had been so generous in allowing their base to be used for community cafe on Tuesdays and Fridays. 47 kids attended and enjoyed homemade burgers chicken skewers and smoothies. We cant wait to have some family events soon.

Our dedicated local staff ensured our children were entertained during school shut down when the snow descended overnight. One or two were targeted for their trouble!!
